Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

1st March 2006-One of the more exciting releases of 2006 is the 599 GTB Fiorano. It replaces the 550/575 Maranello and offers more interior space and power than its predecessors. It also leaves behind the 575 as the last Ferrari to use a steel chassis and completes Ferrari's overhaul of their entire range which is now all-aluminum.

As with all Ferrari introductions, the 599's initial screening was completed over dinner with trusted dealers and friends, this time at the Palazzo Re Enzo in the Piazza del Nettuno, Bologna. By diner time, so many photos of the car had surfaced, that the Geneva Motor Show release was almost old news. However, the accompanying ladies at Pininfarina's and Ferrari's Geneva stands ensured excitement, even if the cars didn't.

But how can the 599 not impress? Underneath its purposeful skin, the 599 retains the same front engine V12 layout which the 550/575 Maranello line successfully reintroduced, and to make up for its longer chassis, the 599 uses a 6.0-liter engine engineered from the same one found in the Enzo supercar that can reach 612 bhp and 8400 rpm! With it, the 599 is the most powerful front engine Ferrari!

Attached to this engine and sitting in the rear, is a considerably upgraded flappy paddle transmission called the 'F1-Superfast' that changes gears in just 100ms. This is a huge improvement compared to 250 ms in the older roadcar systems, but lags behind the 80ms FXX and 30ms Formula One unit it's named after.

Unfortunately, Ferrari's fully electronic E-Differential, first seen in the F430, is absent. It is intstead replaced with intelligent mototronics called Manettino that adjust the brakes and engine to control power delivery. Ferrari says this type of system is more suitable for the front engine design. When the Manettino switch is turned onto Race or Sport mode a system called F1-Trac montors the difference between the front and rear wheels for optimum traction.

Providing a base for the the 599 are three extruded aluminum sections on which the body is rivited and welded to. This lightweight design makes the 599's chassis 100 kg lighter than the 575 desipte being 250 mm longer. And since the V12 engine is 8 percent lighter and more compact than previous versions, it can sit further back in the engine bay. This means almost 85 percent of weight is contained bewteen the wheels.

At first glance the GTB's styling seems to mimic its larger 4-seat brother, the 612 Scgalietti. Both were designed at the same time and share the common interior bits, as well as similar front end designs which Pininfarina now sets as the enduring face of Ferrari. But unlike the 612, the 599 has an entirely new roof line and much tidier rear end treatment with two sexy rear buttresses that create 25 percent of the 599's downforce. Specifically it produceses 160 kg at 300 kph.

One aspect that gets constant debate are the Delphi-sourced magnetorheological dampers that actively stabilize the car and are totally adjustable. They use special fluid in the dampers that can change viscosity almost instantly with a magnetic field. What this means is that 599 reduces about 30 % more bumps than the 599, and the damping can adjust to what ever suits the driver. The exact same system is used on GM cars such as the Corvette but Ferrari are adamite that their own controlling software is unique.

Like all Ferraris, the 599 comes with a range of options, and for the spirited customers the 'Racing and Track' options include CCM (Carbon Ceramic Material) brakes, 20 inch Challenge one-piece rims with run-flat tyres, four-point harnesses and a cockpit roll-bar.

With the 599, Ferrari seem well on their way. Each year they are selling more cars, and offer increased levels of uncompromising luxury and power. The next chapter for the 599 will hopefully start on the track and end at LeMans.

The 599 GTB Fiorano is Ferrari's most powerful V12-engined production car of all time. It features a 6.0-liter V12 engine derived directly from the Enzo supercar, producing 620 hp at 7,600 rpm and 446 pound-feet of torque at 5,600 rpm.

The car represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, and the 365 GTB4. The Ferrari 599 GTB replaces the 575M Maranello, which followed the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996.

The 599 shares a basic design language and much of its chassis with the now-defunct 612 Scaglietti. Bodywork was penned by Italian design house Pininfarina. Dynamically adjustable MagneRide suspension enables the 599 to offer a smooth ride for cruising, while still taking corners like a track-oriented supercar.

Interior and Materials options include a new Enzo Ferrari-inspired carbon-fiber steering wheel with LED rev display which can be specified along with a special carbon-fiber trim kit for the door panels, instrument panel, gear stick surround and sill kick panels.

A choice of various types of leather trim are available for the seats and interior. The passenger areas of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano are trimmed in leather while the driver area and controls boast more high-tech detailing in carbon-fiber and aluminum.

Some standard features include front bi-xenon headlamps and rear LED lights, dusk and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable steering-wheel column, hideaway radio/CD player and key with integrated volumetric anti-theft device with motion sensors.

Key Competitors
Though supercars are rarely cross shopped like Civics and Corollas, those considering the 599 GTB can also research exotic supercars like the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, the Aston Martin DBS and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG if they wish.

Lamborghini Reventon 2012 review

Lamborghini, the company that is known for creating sports cars and producing absolutely great cars, yet again has created a new masterpiece. They call this masterpiece the Lamborghini Reventon, a new breed of Lamborghini supercars.

The Reventon is a car that has extreme characteristics that production is limited. The specifications of the car has taken its base from the Murciélago LP640, a classic supercar, and improved on its characteristics and designs. Its manufacturer made only 20 pieces of this car which sold at 1 million euro each (tax free).

Exterior & Interior

The Lamborghini Reventon is designed and created at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy which is the birthplace of Lamborghini cars. It was developed at Lamborghini Research and Development by the company’s car experts and people from Centro Stile. The made sure that in creating the Reventon that it will be a super class car that has no equals.

There are many features that make the Lamborghini Reventon stand out. One of those is the improvement on this supercar. The front of the car was specifically designed as an acute angled arrow to improve its intake of air which easily cools down the 12 cylinder calipers and carbon disks brakes while accelerating. This design also improves its aerodynamics and interior cooling system which is one of the great things about the car.

Key

Another key feature of the Reventon is its lighting system. The front of the car is accessorized with the newest light-emitting diodes and Bi-Xenon headlights. In back of the car, 7 LED lights are placed and 10 diodes that serves as hazard lights and indicator. This light system accessories ensures uninterrupted daylights and long continuous time of usage.

Also, the car lights are created to have an extra optical arrow effects, so that the driver will enjoy seeing the road where he is driving. Moreover, all of those lights are heatproof which prolong light system’s life span.

The cockpit of the Reventon is also proven to be so evolutional. The interior of the car is made of leather, aluminum, carbon, and Alcantara that are carefully selected to ensure the top of its quality. It also has an easy-to-use touch buttons that will instantly change the information display mode of the vehicle. Another thing that is noteworthy in its interior is the G-Force meter, which amazingly displays the cars acceleration, dynamic drive force, and breaking, in a 3-dimensional viewing, just like in aeronautics.

Performance

Another great thing about Lamborghini Reventon is the acceleration features that are embedded to it. From the classic Murciélago LP640, Lamborghini Reventon also takes the 12 cylinders engine which is a guaranteed high class machine. This gives the car a maximum speed of 340 kilometer/hour and a starting acceleration which could get 100 kilometers/hour in just 3.4 seconds. This ensures that no ordinary car can out speed this type of Lamborghini supercar.
Lamborghini Reventon supercar is a truly revolutionary. Sadly, there are only 20 of them, and their owners surely are not giving them away at any time soon.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 version 2012 review

The Bugatti Veyron is, by every measure, the world's most extreme production road car. It's the quickest to 60, has the highest top speed, and can absolutely dominate a track.

The original Veyron claimed 1,001 horsepower, which in itself was a major technical achievement. Its engine, boasting 16 cylinders, was essentially formed by joining two V8 engines at the crank.

The W16 powerplant displaces 8.0-liters and features ten radiators for everything from the engine cooling systems to the air conditioner.

The standard Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Coupe ran a cool $1.3 million and could reach a top speed of 253 mph - a speed it can maintain for 12 minutes before all the fuel is gone. Power is transmitted to the pavement via four-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.

The car could hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, 100 mph in 5.5 seconds, and 150 mph in 9.8 seconds. Getting to 200 mph took 18.3 seconds, and 250 mph takes 42.3 seconds.

A special key is required to "unlock" the Veyron's top speed of 250+ mph. The car is then lowered to just 3.5 inches from the ground. A hydraulic spoiler extends at speed, and it can also serve as an air brake.

The Veyron weighs a hulking 4,160 lbs, but even its harshest critics admit its handling is surprisingly sharp. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1 was very skeptical of the Veyron during its development, but after driving the finished car, he conceded it is a "huge achievement."

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson also publicly stated the Veyron was ridiculous and would never be built, only to call it "best car ever made" after he drove it. He famously characterized it as "utterly, stunningly, mind blowingly, jaw droppingly brilliant."

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is born
Bugatti has ceased production of the original coupe version of the Veyron, but continues to churn out limited edition open-air Veyron models. The latest such example, the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, boasts an enormous 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque.

Bugatti managed to bump the Vitesse to 1,200 horsepower by fitting the convertible with four enlarged turbochargers and intercoolers. Due to the car’s open roof, additional chassis supports had to be added to the Vitesse to handle the added power, so the car’s top speed will likely fall just short of the Super Sport’s 267 mph top end.

Key competitors
Though nothing short of a jet can match the speed, power (and price) of the big Bugatti, similarly quick and rare performance machines include the Koenigsegg Agera R, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and the Pagani Huayra.

Porsche Panamera 2012 Review

The 2012 Porsche Panamera ranks 1 out of 12 Super Luxury Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 23 published reviews and test drives of the Porsche Panamera, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The 2012 Porsche Panamera offers exceptional performance and luxury. Still, its styling is divisive, and the Panamera’s price can skyrocket quickly with options.

If you’re looking for a luxury sedan that’s a veritable Jack of all trades, Porsche may not be the first automaker that comes to mind. However, critics remain impressed with the 2012 Porsche Panamera’s versatility. “Porsche is aiming for the sporty side of the luxury-car market, and Panamera hits the mark,” writes Consumer Guide. “This 4-door hatchback also scores points for its cargo versatility and passenger room and comfort.”

Interior comfort is expected of all super luxury cars, but since the Panamera bears the Porsche name, it’s also expected to deliver performance. It doesn’t disappoint. Test drivers say that the Panamera is as nimble a sedan as you’ll likely find. V8 models offer an edge in acceleration, but the base V6 Panamera has a handling edge, thanks to its lighter weight.

Perhaps the biggest hurdle the Panamera has to overcome is its polarizing exterior styling. Although its steep roofline and hatchback body improve cargo capacity and passenger space, those design cues add up to an oddly-proportioned exterior that some reviewers don’t like. Additionally, the Panamera’s long options list can make an already expensive car even pricier.

Other Cars to Consider
Rival cars like the BMW 7-Series and Audi A8 have one distinct advantage over the Panamera: Each offers space for five passengers, while the Panamera only has room for four. The base 7-Series is less expensive and more powerful than the base Panamera, but has a smaller trunk and a less attractive interior.

Although you’ll pay a little more for the Audi A8, it packs in more standard features. You’ll lose the Panamera’s comfortable rear seats and additional cargo space, but gain all-wheel drive and a more powerful base engine. Additionally, test drivers generally agree that Audi interiors are among the best in the business.

Porsche Panamera: The Details
For 2012, the Porsche Panamera is available in multiple trims. This review covers the V6-powered Panamera and Panamera 4, as well as the V8-powered Panamera S and 4S. The Panamera S Hybrid is reviewed separately. An automated manual transmission routes power to the rear wheels in base and Panamera S models. Panamera 4 and 4S models use the same transmission, but also feature all-wheel drive. See the full 2012 Porsche Panamera specs.

* "The secret is that under its somewhat polarizing exterior, the Panamera is an excellent luxury car." -- Automobile Magazine
* "With most other cars, luxury and performance are either mutually exclusive or require compromises on each end of the spectrum. Not so with the Panamera, as the wizards at Porsche somehow blended the best of both worlds." -- Edmunds
* "For someone who really cares about back-road romps, the V-6 Panamera makes a compelling alternative to more conventional sedans like the similarly priced Audi A8 and BMW 7-series." -- Car and Driver
* "The new, entry-level Panamera is essentially the same car as the S and it, too, is a joy to drive. You give up some raw speed but not much else, and the base model may handle a tiny bit better than the S because it's slightly lighter."
